Trekking-Information
Camel trekking keeps the caravan tradition of the Sahara alive. Fair travel and exchange of views: At Akabar – Sahara Treks nomads work with their own dromedaries. Guests and team take meals together and are like one big family on the road.

*Due to the numerous requests for a night in the desert/dunes, Akabar – Sahara Treks offers the following:
Jeep transfer from Zagora to the dunes and back, an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast in a desert camp, camel rides and a personal guide.
Price for 2 people: 360 EUR
Under ‘News – Travellers wanted’ you will find dates for tours that are taking place.
Akabar – Sahara Treks offers a total package with taxi transfers from the airport or hotel in Marrakech to Zagora and back via various routes for tours of 6 days or more. Catering and guided tours both en route and in Marrakech are also included. So you can relax from the beginning to the end of your trip.
There are 3 options for overnight accommodation before the hike:
- Hotel in the palm gardens of Amezrou (Zagora) or Zagora (town)
- overnight stay in a tent with dinner and breakfast at the starting point of the hike, price 40 EUR
- overnight stay with dinner and breakfast with a Berber family/semi-nomads in the countryside, price 40 EUR plus 70 EUR for transport and guide
As Hafid Benyachou and his team have extensive connections in Morocco, he is also happy to plan your travel to and from Zagora as well as sightseeing and city visits. He can organise mountain bike tours in the Atlas Mountains, mule trekking in Ait Bougoumez, hiking in the M’Ngoun area (4,071m) as well as in Anti-Atlas mountains.
